Information
A late-summer island-hopping trail run across the Dalmatian archipelago.
Archipelago Trail Run is co-created by JATrail and the destinations connected under the Zadar Archipelago brand — a region where more than 300 islands create one of the most distinctive settings for trail running in the Adriatic. Among rocky paths, the scent of pine trees, salty air, and wide-open sea views, a story unfolds that brings together running, hiking, exploration, and the relaxed spirit of Dalmatia.
From a scattered archipelago to one connected experience.
The word archipelago (from the Greek arkhi = chief, pelagos = sea) refers to a group of islands that are geographically, culturally, or administratively connected. In practice, it describes an area where multiple islands belong to the same region and often function as one whole.
The Zadar Archipelago opens up a space full of endless possibilities. With more than 300 islands, islets, and reefs off the coast of Zadar, it carries a rare mix of diversity, beauty, and freedom of movement.
And yet, that same fragmentation became the starting point for one key question: How do you connect the islands of the Zadar Archipelago into one event?
That question gave birth to the idea of Archipelago Trail Run.
The concept was developed in 2023. The first edition followed in 2024.
The vision was clear: to create a trail event that doesn’t stay in one place, but instead connects multiple island destinations into one continuous experience.
